Reflecting on my Goals - Blog Assignment #6

Nearing the end of my stay overseas, I am reflecting on the goals I had made at the beginning of the trip.

I have definitely gotten used to navigating subways now, though I still lack experience on buses. Even though I can read Korean it's still hard to remember which stop I need exactly. The ride is really uncomfortable with all of the movement (I get motion sickness) and there are many stops to watch for to make sure I don't miss mine. I've come to appreciate taxis a lot more.

As far as my independence, I have done much traveling by myself so far. I'm compiling a mental list of tips for future reference (such as keeping my phone and portable charger charged at all times so that I always have a means of communication or internet access if needed). I will soon be alone in Tokyo for a few days, so I will have to put my independence to the ultimate test by then.

I had also set a goal of leaning the language by being surrounded by it. I can definitely tell that I am picking up more useful vocabulary now that I'm here than I did just trying to learn on my own at home.

I am learning a lot on this trip, so I am very grateful that it has overall been a smooth ride. I've gained a great amount of skills since I've been here.
